What is missed-call text-back?
Missed-call text-back is a simple idea. Someone rings your business and you can't pick up, because you're on a job, with a customer, driving, or it's gone six. A few moments later their phone gets a text from your business, something like the one below. They reply with what they need, and you see it as soon as you can.
Hi, sorry I missed your call. What do you need help with? I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
The wording is written with you at setup, so it sounds like your business and includes your name.
Why it's worth having
Most people who need a tradesperson, a cleaner, a garage or a therapist ring a few businesses until someone answers. If they get voicemail, many will simply try the next name on the list. A quick text, which asks a question they can answer in a few seconds, gives them a reason to stay with you.
I can't tell you how many extra jobs you would win. That depends on your trade, how many calls you miss and how quickly you reply. It is a small, low-effort fix for one specific leak, and it is not a miracle.
How it works
You keep your number
Nothing changes for your customers. They ring the number they already have.
Unanswered calls are diverted
At setup we add a call divert on your mobile, so calls you don't answer go to a UK number we provide.
The caller gets one text
That number sends the text and collects the reply. You are told when someone replies and can answer in your own time.
Setup takes a short call and a couple of codes typed into your phone. I walk you through it, and you can switch the divert off at any time.
What it can't do
Any honest provider should tell you the limits before you buy. These are ours:
- Withheld numbers. If a caller hides their number, there is nothing to text back.
- Landlines. Most UK landlines can't receive texts, so a caller on one won't see the message.
- Call divert costs. Diverted calls can use minutes on some mobile plans. Check yours, or ask me to.
- It is one text. It starts a conversation. It doesn't book jobs, quote prices or replace answering the phone yourself when you can.
- The text comes from a different number. That is why the message always names your business.
Who it suits
